The Influence of Height of Wall on the Shear Resistance of Walls

Finite element analysis were presented on three kinds of walls with single-sided gypsum sheathing, whose width were all 2.4 m and the heights were 2.4 m, 2.7 m and 3 m, respectively. The results of finite element analysis are described in Table 6 and load-displacement curves are shown in Figure 13. When the height of walls was increased, the shear resistance of wall with dimension 3 m x 2.4 m was 12.84% lower than that of wall with dimension 2.7 m x 2.4 m, whose shear resistance was 15.59% lower than that of wall with dimension 2.4 m x 2.4 m. So the change of height has more influence on the shear resistance of walls.
