Size Effect on Nominal Stress at Cracking Load

It has been suggested that the size effect might not be of concern because the current ACI Code (ACI Committee 318, 1992) and other codes arc intended to provide safety against the cracking load at which large diagonal cracks form, rather titan against the collapse load, which is considerably higher. However, the nominal stress corresponding to the cracking load also exhibits size effect. There are two possibilities to define the cracking load.
