SETTING-OUT A RECTANGULAR BUILDING

For the purposes of illustration, a project requires the setting-out on site of a rectangular garage in the position shown on the simplified ‘site plan’ (see Fig 50).

A site plan is used to show the position of the proposed building on the site and in relation to any existing structures. It also shows the site boundary, together with information on proposed road, drainage, and service layouts, and other site information such as levels where relevant. The site plan will provide sufficient information, in the form of relative dimensions, to allow the position of the building on the drawing to be transposed on to the actual site.
