Wooden or Polyurethane Float
A float is used in a circular motion to flatten out Fig. 61 P hiladelphia Pattern brick trowel. the surface of concrete prior to applying a surface
finish with a steel floating trowel. For the most part, floats used to be made of wood and it was not unheard of for bricklayers to manufacture a makeshift float from off-cuts of timber. These days, modern floats tend to be made from polyurethane and are often referred to as ‘poly floats’.
