A major benefit of the tunnel forming system is that an experienced foreman can quickly turn relatively unskilled labor into skilled tunnel operators. This allows less expensive laborers to be used for other construction activities and can greatly reduce cost without sacrificing quality. This can be particularly beneficial in regions of high-cost labor. Also, since formwork transportation is handled by a crane, crew requirements are minimized.
Since the tunnel forms are prefabricated, the need to assemble and disassemble the forms between lifts is eliminated. The stripping of the forms is done by hydraulic jacks, thus reducing the number of workers needed for this task. The repetitive cycles allow the workers to become familiar with the system after 3 or 4 cycles, therefore increasing productivity as the job continues.
