Tolerances

Tolerances should be the maximum that the design and/or aesthetic requirements allow. Tight tolerance is expensive and should
be specified only when necessary. Tolerances specified may normally not be less than the following:

• Variation from plumb in any direction:

1 in. (25.4 mm) in any 50 ft (15.2 m)

2 to 3 in. (50.8 to 76.2 mm) in total building height

• Variation from grade:

1 in. (25.4 mm)

• Variation in wall thickness:

-1/4 in.(-6.35 mm)

+ 1/2 in. (+12.70 mm)

• Relation of critical surfaces to each other:

1 in. (25.4 mm)

• Vertical placement of blockouts, inserts, and plates:

2 in. (50.8 mm)

• Horizontal placement of blockouts, inserts, and plates:

1/2 in. (12.7 mm)
